Services
Covenant currently offers Halal certification for Poultry products. Per GSO/UAE.S 2055 – 2:2016 and GSO/UAE.S 993:2015, Covenant certifies poultry slaughtering, processing, and packaging.
Fees
Covenant’s fee structure is available upon request. Please email info@covenanthalal.com. Generally, clients will pay an upfront fee and a fee per certified load.
Halal Certification and Audit Process
The audit process begins after completion of application review and determination of audit scope date, duration & team. The initial certification audit of Halal product or service or management system is conducted in two stages:
Stage 1 Audit:
Audit team is created based on the application review report
The member & details of audit team is communicated to the client to raise issue, if any by the
team leader.
The audit team leader, in consultation with the audit team, will the develop the audit task, objectives and plan.
The audit team leader communicates the same to the client and request for the following list of documents for review:

The audit team leader will assign to each team member responsibility for auditing specific processes, functions or activities and reviewing relevant documents.
If more information is required by the auditors for Stage 1 audit then such information will be passed on to the audit team leader to communicate and retrieve from client.
After the completion of each individual section the audit team member will submit a written report to the audit team leader
Audit team will meet and discuss the findings of the Stage 1 Audit.
At the end of meeting the will finalize & summarize the outcome of the Stage 1 Audit
Audit team leader will prepare a Stage 1 Audit report and submit the same to the certification manager with recommendation for Stage 2 Audit.
Stage 2 Audit:
Based on the outcome & recommendation of Stage 1 Audit, Stage 2 Audit will either be conducted or cancelled or postponed.
Audit team is created based on Application Review Report & feedback of Stage 1 Audit.
The member & details of audit team is communicated to the client to raise issue, if any by the team leader.
The audit team leader, in consultation with the audit team, will the develop the audit task, objectives and plan.
The audit team leader communicates the same to the client and address any queries or concerns from the client regarding the same.
The audit team leader will communicate with the client regarding requirement & arrangement for an on – site audit.
The on – site audit follows the ISO 19011 guidelines.
The audit will begin with an opening meeting.
During opening meeting, the audit team leader will request the presence of all the important representative from the client as well as representative from the top management.
After opening meeting, the team leader will assign audit team with individual responsibilities to conduct document review and site audit.
At the end of site audit & document review the audit team leader will assemble all the audit team member and discuss & finalize audit finding.

If any non-conformity is identified during the audit, then it is explained to the organization representatives and is mutually agreed upon regarding the date for closure of the same.
After completion of audit the audit team leader will prepare a Stage 2 Audit report for submission to halal certification manager & halal certification decision committee.
Once the report is submitted the Stage 2 Audit as well the entire audit process is completed.
Suspension or Misuse or Withdrawal of Certification
Any breaches of the rules contained in this document will be deemed as misuse of halal certificate and mark/logo by certified organizations, where applicable, will be sanctioned by CHS through the adoption of the following measures, in increasing order of severity:
In the event of identification of misuse of CHS halal certificate and/or mark/logo, CHS shall request the client in writing to rectify the misuse and make correction & corrective action in limited amount of time.
If the above steps and corrective action are not taken or are inadequately taken or the error continues to be made: the certificate of the certified organization will be suspended;
The certificate will be suspended for a period of time commensurate with the seriousness of the situation of non-compliance providing the client with sufficient time to take necessary action for correction & corrective action. For an organization whose certificate has been suspended must cease immediately to use the CHS certification logo on all materials and items to which it was affixed and throughout the suspension period of the certificate.
If misuse of either CHS halal certificate or mark/logo or both still persists and/or breaches continue beyond the end of the suspension period: the certificate is revoked. Upon termination of the Certification, the customer shall discontinue all use of the Marks immediately.
Even if after the certificate is revoked and still the client continues to misuse the certificate and/or mark/logo then CHS reserves the right to take the matter to the competent legal authority.
Rights and Duties of Applications and Clients
CHS provides information about and updates its clients and applicants on the following:
The initial and continuing certification activity, including the application, initial audits, surveillance audits, and the process for granting, refusing, maintaining of certification, expanding or reducing the scope of certification, renewing, suspending or restoring, or withdrawing of certification

Information about the fees for application, initial certification and continuing certification
CHS give its certified clients due notice of any changes to its requirements for certification.
CHS verifies that each certified client complies with the new requirements.
Use of Certificate/Mark/Logo
All Certificates issued by CHS shall always remain the property of CHS.
Authorization to use the CHS certification logo, in accordance with the criteria of these rules, is granted to organizations which have been certified for Halal by CHS and as long as their certification is valid.
Use of the certificate and mark/logos is to refer exclusively to the services, products or management aspects for which the certificates has been issued by CHS.
Any use not expressly covered by the CHS rules is to be previously authorized in writing by CHS.
An organization may not, under any circumstances, transfer the right to use the CHS certification logos to third parties.
CHS reserves the right to make the checks it considers most appropriate to verify that the logos are used in compliance with these Rules and with any other applicable regulations
During the audits of the organization, CHS checks use of the Quality Mark/logo by examining the organization’s documents, catalogues and web sites, packaging, wrapping as well as the products themselves, both at the production plant and on the market.
Organizations may only use the logos during the validity of the Certificates of Conformity issued by CHS.
An organization whose a certificate has been suspended can use the CHS certification logo on all documents/items to which it was affixed and throughout the suspension period of the certificate.
